BIO
Born Ngainsi Defo Gilles DÉMOSTHÈNE, the artist developed a passion for knowledge and learning very early on. His favorite subjects were mathematics, physics, electronics, poetry, philosophy and music. The latter two would hold his attention the most.
DÉMOSTHÈNE has a curious knack for critical thinking, debate, melody and lyricism.
After his baccalaureate, Gilles studied electrical engineering at the University of Stuttgart in Germany and allowed himself to buy his first electronic musical keyboard. Every day after lectures and exercise sessions, Démosthène spent entire evenings and nights practicing on the musical keyboard in search of new melodies and sounds on this instrument. He would soon make the switch from the musical keyboard to the computer and began recording his own songs for his music.
Upon completing his studies in 2004, Demosthenes accepted a position as an engineer and consultant for one of the world’s largest automobile companies (BMW), with the particularity of testing and integrating microcomputers as components of the telematics system of limousine vehicles.
It was during this period that the artist began to perfect songs for “AVANT-COUREURS” (i.e. precursors), which speaks of the beginnings of his impulses. This collection of songs provides a look through the thoughts of a talented young professional – a multicultural and international polyglot gentleman balanced in three languages: French, English, German.
